Mission

History
- For World War II history and lineage, see, 339th Fighter Group
The 136th FS was formed in 1946 which was compromised of 14 officers and 100 enlisted members. Up to 1994 the 136th operated fighter aircraft. In 1994 its mission was changed to aerial refueling. Following recommendations out the Base Realignment and Closure progamm, the squadron's mission was changed again to aerial transport in 2008. Also, to reduce costs, the Lockheed C-130H Hercules aircraft are pooled with the 914th Airlift Wing of the U.S. Air Force Reserve Command, stationed at Niagara Falls, too.[1]
